Part 3
A Clown's Prayer |
As I leave each party or gathering, let the laughter of children ring strong and loud about me.
Help me to always seek out the child in tears and, whenever I find such a child, let my pockets be filled with bright balloons waiting to help me put a smile on that face.
For I am a Clown and Thou didst create the Clown to make the sad child smile.
Inspire me to visit the aged and the infirm often, and let me always put the joy of a child into their hearts.
For I am a Clown and Thou didst create the Clown to lift the hearts of children of all ages.
When I find a tear rising unbidden in my own eye, help me to bow my head to hide that tear, and let my painted smile shine for all to see.
For I am a Clown, and Thou didst create the Clown to dry the tears of others, not to shed his or her own.
As unbearable as my own trials may often seem, grant me the strength and the will to put my own troubles aside and to forget them while I strive to erase a few of the burdens which I can see in those around me if I will but look
For I am a Clown, and it is for this above all other reasons that Thou didst create the Clown.
